Having talked, thought through, deliberated and prayed about it for six months, we have taken the plunge and I am going to be working part time after Christmas (3 days a week).

I have been working in acute mental health since I qualified as an OT five and a half years ago and although I love my work, it seemed time for a change and also time to look at other things that i would like to do outside of work… When a part time community based post came up that supports people with mental health problems to fulfill their potential by returning to work etc, and bridging back into communities outside of mental health services, it seemed the ideal opportunity to move into a new role that i really believe in. The interview was last Thursday and i will be starting in my new role on 7th January!

We’re both very excited about this new role and are looking forward to it starting. As for the other two days a week… Well, we’re just going to have to wait and see what opportunities arise. Dan is very keen that I don’t fill the time up too much so we’re just going to see what happens - i guess I’m just looking forward to being more available for friends and family so watch this space…
