I (Dan) had a traumatic experience today which I have only just about recovered from!
We went to a “nearly new sale” organized by the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) and as members and expectant parents we had the luxury of a 30 minute quiet perusal and purchase before the hoards of mums with kids joined the mad dash! It was just that wandering around with about 25 mums with pushchairs chomping at the bit to get in was like standing in a lions den waiting for the wild animals to be set free! I kept looking over my shoulder as I felt their glare dig into my back! When the door-women finally let the throng in, I was left trembling in the corner holding onto our bundle of newborn baby clothes and baby bouncer as I was bashed and bothered by mums and kids a like! Becs looked over at me and just laughed! (Thanks for the support honey!). “I’m not sure I’m ready for all this yet” I whimpered. “Can we go now?” I asked.
I think I might need more readybrek and sharper elbows next time! It’s either that or a lightsaber!
Still, despite the trauma, we managed to get a zillion beautiful baby clothes (most of them brand new), some books and a baby bouncer for only £24!
That kind of saving might just persuade me to go again!
