Well it came as quite a shock last night as we left our last ante-natal class with the dawning realisation that our baby is now due so soon!.
We had the priveledge last night of meeting two sets of new parents and their 12 week old babies. The guys and girls split off into same sex groups and we got to ask lots of questions to help alleviate (or raise) anxieties we had. It was a really great time and the new dads were very reassuring and surprisingly alert. They each said that the hardest bit for them was not having enough sleep but that you get used to it and things do generally get better after the first few weeks! I’m not sure how I am going to cope with only 4 or 5 hours sleep a night! They all said they had now started sleeping in a seperate room for a few nights a week and I can see the logic of it but don’t want to do that myself. But I think these things become unavoidable when you’re so sleep deprived you can’t make any sense any more!
With 6 and a half weeks to go, we’re now getting the final things together and getting the hospital bag ready! If anyone has any helpful tips on what to bring that you’d not normally think of, please let us know.
