Early retirement… or something!

July 7th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Well, I have now started my maternity leave and I have to say that it’s a bit of a relief. It feels like we’re now a whole phase nearer to meeting our little girl! I love my job, but was finding that I was increasingly distracted by our impending baby (and was probably fairly distracting to have around…) - suddenly there were so many other more interesting things to think about! Baby gro sizes (which are a mine field for those of you who haven’t had a baby - early baby, new baby and tiny baby all come before newborn!), hospital bags and of course a fair amount of daydreaming! I was slightly worried about feeling bored when I finished work but I don’t think there’s any danger there - in fact, I think its going to be harder to ensure that I rest! So many people….

The first baby from our antenatal group was born on 3/7 - 8lb 8oz little girl called Mia - I’m hoping to meet her tomorrow at our weekly get together and to be filled in on all the details!

Dan has changed the website to make it easier for me to add my own contribultion, so I’m hoping to be adding quite a few posts between now and the big day - 3 weeks and 5 days (ish!) left!!

    Hey Becs!!

Great to see you in the Blogosphere!!! I’m glad you’re not bored during your maternity leave - that was my fear too, but you find plenty to do in all the hours spare, once you’ve caught up on all your sleep…! I look forward to keeping in touch with all your news through this site!!

We can’t wait to hear about the arrival of Marmalade!! I hope meeting the newest mum of your antenatal group was insightful - at least you know they’ll be brutally honest and you get all the gory details.. Don’t be put off by it, though, birth is an amazing experience! Reuben had his immunisations today so he’s a little drowsy but well; it was so hard to watch his eyes suddenly open and then scream when they jabbed him in the thigh..

Take much care, and enjoy the leave that you have before your little girl makes her grand entrance!

    Lots of love,

    Gayle and Reuben xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
