We have just entered a whole new world for Hannah - weaning! A nice concise word, but let me assure you, there is nothing concise about this new phase of introducing Hannah to solids. Solids - another word which I would not use to describe the mushy puree that Hannah is sampling.

I prefer to liken the whole process to wine tasting…. Hannah has a good look at the puree, she then sniffs it suspiciously, gingerly opens her mouth before taking a big glug. This is followed by plenty of swilling in her mouth, tongue protrusion and if we’re lucky, she’ll then swallow. If we’re not lucky then she will try and rub it off of her tongue onto her hands which then go into her hair, onto her trousers…. you get the picture!

Having said that, it is actually going extremely well, with swede being the firm favourite so far closely followed by parsnip. She can take or leave carrot it seems. I did wonder if her weight may drop a few centiles when we started solids, but I actually think that she will continue along the 98th centile!! (For those of you who aren’t familiar with the centile jargon, for every 100 baby girls born at the same time as Hannah, she is the 98th biggest!! Go Hannah!!) She obviously shares the same love of food as her parents….
