Fasching Carnival in Krailling

February 14th, 2010 · No Comments

We had the pleasure of enjoying the pre-lent Bavarian festival called Fasching today. It was really fun with over 40 floats bedecked in a particular theme and with music blearing out. Almost everyone was dressed in very random fancy-dress clothes with many men dressing up in women’s clothes! Nice but odd with about 6 inches of snow everywhere. We also got to enjoy “Krapfen” which are the German equivalent to our doughnuts. Very nice. On our way home we stumbled across a marquee serving cold beers, hot gluhwein and a great band playing English covers. We duly went in and warmed up before heading home. All of this after a fab morning of sledging down out local sledging hill! Such fun. If you click on the picture above you can see a picture card viewer of lots of Fasching photos I took today.
